PAX and More

I’m sure that most of you have been keeping up with Star Citizen news, but just in case you haven’t, it has been a big weekend in the ‘Verse. On Friday, the Drake Herald was put on sale and if you have the time, check out the comm-link here. It is a pretty cool page (desktop recommended). The ship is described as…

“a small, armored ship, is designed to fit that need and safely get that information from Point A to Point B. Featuring a powerful central engine (for high speed transit and generating the power needed for effective data encryption/containment), advanced encryption software and an armored computer core, the Herald is unique among personal spacecraft in that it is designed to be easily ‘cleaned’ when in danger of capture.”

However, it is important to remember that it can be modified to suit other purposes and might be the fastest ship in creation. In other “ship news”, the Gladius ($90) and Redeemer ($250) have both been released for sale, and unlike the Herald, they are hangar ready.

The most interesting information to come from this weekend was the PAX Aus demonstration of the First Person Shooter aspect of Star Citizen. From what many people have said, it seems to have been much better than expected, even in pre-Alpha state.  Not only do we have regular combat, but we also have zero-g combat, something that many expected to be released much later on. To see the whole demo, click here. In addition to all of this, we also broke though the $60 million mark and are nearly 40% to $61 million, an incredible accomplishment.
