Wednesday: The Khartu-Al and Chairman Letter

Early_concept_scout

Wednesday’s ship update was the Xi’an Khartu-al, the alien scout fighter. We can see that the ship is unique from others not only in its design, but also in its function. So far we know that it doesn’t have the heavy guns that are featured on almost every other ship, but it makes up for this with its speed and maneuverability. In the description it states that the ship doesn’t have traditional main thrusters, but the Khartu-al makes up for this with 4x TR3  and 8x TR2  thrusters. Another nice touch is its two seats, allowing for a pilot and a co-pilot. It is clear that this ship is going to be incredibly fast and will certainly be a nice addition to any hanger, however it seems like it will be only truly effective in the hands of the most able pilots.

You can buy the Xi’an Khartu-Al here.

In addition to the Khartu-Al news is the Letter from the Chairman for the 62 and 63 million dollar goals. In reaching $62 million we unlocked the Genesis-class Starliner, a wave four transport ship, and with $63 million we have the MISC Reliant, the third starter ship. For the next stretch goal, the $64 million mark, pets will be target. Many people have reservations about this, but it is nice to deviate from the ship goals. The description for the pets is below.

“Pets – We have repair bots, we have fish… but we haven’t implemented a traditional pet system in Star Citizen yet. At $64 million, that changes. From Jones the Cat in Alien to the Battlestar Galactica’s Daggit, pets have a place onboard starships… and we want to give you that option in Star Citizen. Expect traditional terrestrial options, plus anything exotic we can dream up in the Star Citizen universe! (Those Torshu Grey crabs that keep escaping are just the start.) This stretch goal is in honor of Paddington, Strike Dog of the UEES Paul Steed. In one of our first videos Paddington helped us get to $4 million back in the initial campaign, and sadly passed away recently.”

It may seem a little strange, but it seems like it will be a dynamic addition to the game that will add realism and give people something to do during long hauls. Th $65 million goal was also hinted at: greater ship modularity. The letter stated that this will allow more modularity for existing ships and ships created in the future, something that many people want.
